Information on the village of Gattonside in Scotland.
Scientist, inventor and writer. Born in Jedburgh in 1781, Sir David Brewster invented the kaleidoscope and improved many of the existing versions of scientific optical instruments. His main experiments were on the theory of light and its uses. He was knighted in 1831 and died at Allerby, near Gattonside in 1868.
